More monogamy as I continue with Monogamous March. Here was Saturday’s shave:
So today I thought I’d try out another SE razor the 1924 shovel head. There is something about the SE razors that just don’t feel as smooth as a DE to use but they give a good shave. I’m not sure if it’s the limited blades available that aren’t quite as sharp as I would like or not. Using the mongoose and schick I seem to suffer less with ingrown hairs which I put down to the more rigid blades. Who knows it could just be a matter of getting the angle right with these SE razors. I’ll keep at it and see if something clicks.
The Carsons cream is nice but I just don’t feel it produces the type of lather I get from my top soaps so I’ll be passing this along and won’t be buying my own tub.
The Fine aftershave finished off a good shave and gave me a nice refreshing cooling menthol hit and the scent of this is definitely one of my favourites.
Now to think what gets used next.
A new soap for me today. I did have a quick tidy up 2 pass shave with this yesterday before having a full shave today.
The soap has a nice scent which is quite unique compared to other scents I own. It’s a cross between a baked apple pie and a nice glass of cider. A great summer scent but I think it could be used all year round.
The performance is really good easy to load and lather, and good residual slickness which I like in a soap.
This can take a good amount of water and even with my hard water provides a nice thick protective lather. The tallow gives it a nice creamy consistency.
Shave number 8 on the feather pro blade went well with a good end result. It didn’t feel as smooth during the shave but I reckon I’ll get to double figures then tossing the blade.
Finished off with the sample of the David Beckham Instinct aftershave I’m still working through. The fresh scent paired well with the soap today.
The blade was much smoother on shave number 2 today 99% BBS and a real smooth shave.
Keeping with the month of using samples today I chose a sample of the Mickey Lee Soapworks Cocoa Maya shave soap. Lathered up with the Duke with ease with a nice chocolate scent. Really good protection, glide and post skin care. This scent seems a little lighter than some of the other MLSW soaps I have.
Finished off with a splash of witch hazel which I had mixed with a sample of Stirling Lemon Chill aftershave I received a long time ago, it’s got a lot of menthol and even mixed down with witch hazel it’s got a lot of chilling menthol power. A quick splash of the David Beckham aftershave and I was good to go and smelling nice and fresh. A good summer scent and it was quite a nice warm day today after a mixed week of weather, we even had some hail and a thunderstorm here last night. Here’s hoping for some nice weather over the bank holiday weekend.
On to today’s shave.
