WSP Vetiver and Ikon SB

Gillette 7 o’clock Yellow (1)
Quorum Aftershave

A super smooth shave tonight from the above setup. The yellow 7 o’clock blade is nice and sharp, this was the second blade I bought in bulk when I started wet shaving about 5 years ago. It certainly delivered the results tonight. They aren’t the smoothest of blades I find so I gave the blade a quick hand strop before loading it into the Ikon head.

The sample of WSP Vetiver soap is a good strong scent that is more like a fresh green vetiver scent than the more smoky vetiver scents I’ve used recently. I decided to use the big omega boar tonight using the Marco method of lathering, which resulted in huge amounts of dense slick lather with more than enough for probably another shave.

I am really liking to Ikon at the moment so I’ll have one more shave with it to see how the gillette blade smooths out for the second shave then swap to another razor.

I finished off my shave with a good splash of Quorum aftershave which has a nice manly woody scent with a touch of tobacco too. It’s quite similar to the Woodspice I used recently and lingers for quite a while. I’ve just ordered another brush which should be here by next week. I’m looking forward to that and will post about it once it arrives.

Another sample shaving soap used today, the Razorock XX. This is the argan oil formula soap with a nice lemony citrus scent with herby, floral, woody notes. It’s based on the scent of Acqua Di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Mirto di Panarea. It’s a fantastic performer with a great scent, the argan oil seems to provide a nice post shave skin feel.

It’s been a while since I’ve used my Above The Tie H1 Kronos, paired with the Gillette 7 O’clock Green blade I got a very smooth shave. It’s quite an aggressive, yet smooth razor, but requires a very light touch to avoid any nicks or weepers.

I finished off with a splash of Myrsol Plastic Shave aftershave and a little of the Myrsol Emulsion as a balm. Both have a light scent with a nice cooling menthol hit. A few squirts of the Dior Fahreheit Summer 2002 EDT finished off the shave well with its manly floral notes.

Personna (5)
Fine Accoutrements Clean Vetiver aftershave

Everyone seems to be getting in on menthol May so I thought I’d join in today.

This soap is very cooling with a strong Vetiver scent, it reminds me of Guerlain Vetiver. It has the usual great Catie’s Bubbles performance which is plenty slick with a nice post shave feel.

The Personna injector blade is still going strong 5 shaves in on this blade. I do find my shaves are a bit quicker with the Schick Injector, not sure why but they just are. For ease of use they are very similar to a cartridge razor.

Today’s shave was finished off with a splash of Fine Accoutrements Clean Vetiver aftershave which matched the soap well and continued the icy menthol effect on my face.

I should be able to squeeze one more shave out of this sample before moving on to some other samples I have lying around. I’m hoping to use a few up by concentrating on using samples for the rest of the month.

Alpa Fougere Cologne

Nice shave today with the LTV that arrived in the mail today. Elcubbo sent me a sample a while back and I loved the scent so it had to be the next Catie’s Bubbles soap I bought.

The usual great lather with a really nice scent of oakmoss, sandalwood and patchouli.

3 easy passes with the Schick on setting 7 and I’m left nice and smooth.

I finished off with a splash of witch hazel and a good dose of the Alpa Fougere Cologne which matches the soap quite well.

Oh yes here’s a picture of the mailcall from today
The LTV a tub of Barnegat Bay italian formula soap and a sample pot of Purple Grapefruit which smells very nice. I also have a few samples of some other scents a friend sent me as well. Also I had a separate parcel arrive with a bottle of Art of Shaving Lemon EDT which will be nice in the warmer weather.

22/03/15 a Knockout shave

Gem Blade (2)
Proraso Aftershave Splash

Better shave on the second outing for the 1912. Not sure if it was getting the knack back or the blade smoothing out.

Went back to the sample of the Knockout Shave Black soap I was given recently. I like the thick lather this produced which is very protective, certainly made the 1912 much easier to shave with and I think the tallow gives good glide also.

Finished off with a good splash of the Proraso aftershave which has to be one of my favourites and one of the few I am tempted to get a big 400ml bottle of. Leaves the skin feeling very good and I love the cooling menthol kick.

Nice easy shave today with the XXX, the usual great Razorock performance as always. This is a great scent and one I hope Joe keeps in production.

Finished off with a little Pal Zileri EDT which complemented the XXX well.
