Razorock Baby Blue aftershave

Nice drama free shave tonight. Great to wind down after a day at work with a nice relaxing shave.

The Vie Long synthetic brush is nice, the fibres are similar to the Muhle STF fibres in the backbone department but for some reason I prefer this brush. It has nice soft tips and tends to hold the lather in the knot well without it ending up on the handle which seems to happen with the Muhle.

The Strop Shoppe Date Night is a very nice soap. It lathers up well and is quite a thirsty soap. The lather it makes is nice and slick and leaves my skin feeling very nice and moisturised. The scent is a little light but you keep getting bursts of it throughout the shave. It is nice light cologne type scent similar to Dior Fahrenheit.

I noticed today just how loud this razor is in use. You really can hear each hair being mown down. The Sputnik blade performed well and was nice and sharp and smooth today. I only push them to three shaves and for the price they work out at that is fine for me.

I finished off with a good splash of the Razorock Baby Blue aftershave, mainly because it has a big hole the aftershave comes out of and I misjudged it and ended up with a lot in my hand so after a good coating on the face the rest I rubbed into my chest to prolong the nice clean scent.

Very nice shave and my skin now feels in excellent condition after today’s shave.

I put in two sprays of my Guerlain Ideal a little while later as the scent of the aftershave had gone away and I find I get a few hours of scent from this, so enough to keep smelling good until bedtime.

I also had a nice little delivery today. The highly regarded Old Spice soap!

Fine American Blend Aftershave

Pulled out a long forgotten soap today that really is great. The scent is very nice and the lather is top notch.

It’s been a while since I used one of my vintage TTO razors so today was the turn of the Gillette Aristocrat. A really nice looking razor which delivers a smooth shave. Paired with the Sputnik blade I had a very nice shave, the sort that you wonder if there is a blade in the razor.

All finished off with my favourite of the Fine splashes American Blend. What better way to end the week and be ready for the week ahead. My boy is back to school tomorrow so back to getting up early again.

Fine Accoutrements Clean Vetiver Aftershave

Nice shave today with the new to me Tiki Bar Soaps Land Locked shaving soap. It has a very nice scent of orange, spices and patchouli and great slick performance.

I took the 2 band badger brush and gave it a good squeeze and flick so it was just damp and began loading the soap which had a little water left on it to soften it while I had a shower. I was quite surprised how quickly the lather began to build up and within 20 seconds the brush was fully loaded, maybe even a little over loaded.

I started face lathering adding drops of water to the knot as I went until I had the lather at a nice consistency. I found that this soap can take a lot of water and has a nice sheen when it’s fully hydrated.

The New Forest brush held more than enough lather for 3 passes which is good considering the knot is only 19mm. I’m going to be travelling shortly and this will be the brush I take away with me.

For some reason the Clean Vetiver has been calling to me today so I reached for it to finish off today’s shave, must be that I keep seeing it in SOTD pictures and subliminally got the urge to use it. It’s a great scent and I really like the high menthol chill it provides.

As I say I’m travelling shortly so am putting thought into what I’m going to pack. I think I’ve decided on the razor, brush and splash but still need to make my mind up on a soap. I’m thinking either a Stirling sample puck, a Haslinger soap or maybe even some Proraso soap.

First shave in a long time with no pre shave cream, I’m not sure there was much of a difference to be honest.

The Caties Bubbles Santal Sensuelle performed just like the LPV reviewed here. The scent is lighter than the LPV but has a nice woody scent to it much like true sandalwood.
