Pannacrema Vetiver and Gem Featherweight

Gem Featherweight
Gem (3)
Fine Accoutrements Clean Vetiver

Third shave on this Gem SE blade and I switched razor from the Clog Pruf to the Featherweight. A much more forgiving shave it seemed but a really close smooth result, pretty much BBS all over.

A soap I haven’t used for a while and it really is a good performer and I think the tallow and shea butter really give a good post shave skin feel. The only downside is the small tub, but that isn’t a problem with the 19mm New Forest badger knot. This is a great little brush and thankfully I have a new 2001 sitting in my drawer unused for when this one gives up on me. I reckon that’s a long time off though.

I thought I’d keep to the vetiver theme and finish with a splash of the Fine Clean Vetiver, all the fine splashes are great but I really like this one, second only to the American Blend.

To carry on the vetiver theme I had a few squirts of Tom Ford Grey Vetiver and went about my day doing a bit of shopping before the shops get to hectic with all the Christmas shoppers. I actually found a tub of Dove shaving cream around the shops today so I might give that a go tomorrow.

Fine Clean Vetiver

Saturday’s shave was the above setup. First try of this brush and soap. Very impressed by both of these and got a very slick lather. Nice BBS shave before heading off to a party that night. I used the Clean Vetiver to finish off and compliment the Tom Ford Grey Vetiver EDT I was going to wear. I’ll have to get the Fresh Vetiver at some point which is a closer match.

My usual Sunday night shave didn’t happen. I seemed to have picked up a bug so went to bed early yesterday to rest up. So today’s shave was:

Village Barber Oil
Restored Rubberset 24mm Silvertip
Soap Commander Passion
Ikon SB
Gillette Swede (2)
Figaro Gold aftershave

This is what I needed after feeling sick the last 24 hours, a good shave.

Nice slick protective lather from the soap commander soap as ever.

I had to be a bit careful round a couple of spots on my neck. The SB can be quite aggressive so I didn’t want to nick myself.

I had a quick splash of witch hazel before a splash of the Figaro Gold aftershave. I wanted to try to clear the spots a bit with the witch hazel.

My skin feels good now, nice and soft and smooth. I still feel a bit rough with this bug but I’m hoping I can shift it soon.

Weekend shaves with Catie’s Bubbles & Stirling Soap Co

I gave up on my months use of MWF as I seemed to be breaking out in spots and had got a little bored. Here are the shaves of my weekend

Trumpers Lime Skinfood
Stirling Synthetic Brush
Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic
Feather Pro (4)
Brut aftershave

Carrying on the mentholated shave from yesterday I went with the even chillier Margaritas in the Arctic for today’s shave. This is one cooling soap! Maybe a little less chilly than the Orange Chill Stirling soap I have but none the less a nice face freezer.

Today I have been hacking back the bushes in our garden and after working up a sweat and picking up a little sun so a nice cooling shave was in order.

3 passes with the mongoose went trouble free and left me very smooth. The post shave feel on the Stirling soaps is one of the best in my opinion making my skin feel even more smooth.

After all that menthol I didn’t need anymore cooling down so I reached for my bottle of Brut aftershave to finish off my shave. It’s a nice scent and quite cheap and easy to find in most stores. The scent reminds me of my dad when he was getting ready to go out when I was younger.

Fine Accoutrements Clean Vetiver

A really nice shave finally not using MWF. I picked up a full tub of the Glace Herbe recently after using a sample and today was the first time using it from a full tub.

Just as I remembered it from the sample, a really nice rich vetiver scent which lasts throughout the shave. The menthol kick on this soap is just about right for me.

Just a quick 2 pass shave with the mongoose was enough to look presentable before heading out the door.

That is after a quick splash of the Fine Clean Vetiver which paired perfectly with the soap and added to the cooling menthol feel.

To carry on the vetiver goodness for a little longer I put on some Guerlain Vetiver which I think the soap and aftershave are based on. Needless to say I smelt good for the rest of the day.

A month of MWF

I’m going to try to use Mitchell’s Wool Fat for the whole of August. It’s going to be tough sticking to one soap but I’m going to give it my best shot.

Today’s shave was:

Omega 49 boar brush
Feather Pro (10)
Fine Clean Vetiver aftershave

My puck of MWF seems to have shrunk and cracked a fair bit through lack of use. I left it soaking while I had a shower and loaded up the big omega boar.

I seemed to get a good lather from the soap but not as good as it has been in the past. I’m hoping some continued use will rehydrate it a bit and improve the performance.

Tenth shave on the feather blade and it showed I think, it’s now in the blade bank and I think it did well to make it this far. Back to DE for a few shaves now.

The good thing about the scent of MWF is it can go with most things so I reached for my bottle of Fine Clean Vetiver to finish off my shave with a nice cooling menthol hit.
